Prof. Bernardo Sorj, Phd.

Dr. Sorj is Director of the Edelstein Center for Social Research and is professor of Sociology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, he is a naturalized Brazilian, living in Brazil since 1976. The author of 20 books and more than 100 articles, in 2005 he was elected Man of Ideas of the Year.

On his personal website, Dr. Sorj has an entire section of articles to download about Judaism, the Middle East, and Diaspora, including a fascinating article on Secular Judaism in the XXI Century. He has been an active advisor to the IFSHJ.
